29 items

In this work I’m having a walk through Regents Canal drawing onto surfaces that interests me. I’m having an “imaginary dialogue” with the objects-spaces I’m passing through where my quick pastel marks co-exist within these particular spaces. I draw attention to and capture this act of change caused by my interventions and time.
Furthermore, I enjoy the fact that these recordings become another approach to painting within my practice. There is an interesting duality by the fact that the work still exist in its own environment as well as in these pictures.

In 2008 I developed two series of photographs that capture scenes of outdoor environments. In the first series I focused on capturing industrial landscapes with my camera by following a route through an industrial area of East London around Bow Road. In the second series, I wanted to be more actively involved in the creation of the final composition by painting marks on particular surfaces & objects with my oil pastels.

"29 items" is a series of 29 A3 digital prints mounted on aluminum placed in a row on the wall. The final composition is approximately 8,20m long.
